Old Maps

Old Maps

There are now many sources for old maps available on the Internet.

Checking boundaries on old maps, showing the parish before modern development, can be extremely useful.

The two most useful sources for OS maps are:

Ordnance Survey Maps - Six-inch England and Wales, 1842-1952

Ordnance Survey Maps - 25-inch England and Wales, 1842-1952

The Vision of Britain Through Time website also has useful maps.

Members of the Project can obtain copies of modern OS 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 maps on request
